Beautiful Parasitesby Tammy Salzl presents paintings, installations, video and sculptures that features a familiar cast of characters. She pulls from a vast library for inspirations, including Aesop’s Fables, the Brother’s Grimm and myths from ancient Greece, to name but a few.
annus mirabilis – A Remarkable Year May 9 to August 5 Monique
annus mirabilis embodies beauty, wonder and transformation. Thousands of screen-printed paper butterflies are suspended from branches and floating up to the ceiling in a riot of colour and joy.
한지 – Hanji August 8 to November 4 박은주, Eunju Park
Language, heritage and joy coalesce in 한지 – Hanji. Created by St. Albert’s Eunju Park, colourful, abstract collages brim with messages of optimism and encouragement. And Park’s work is literal. Her compositions resolve into 한글 Hangul – Korean characters. With titles/subjects such as 너는아름다워You Are Beautiful, 행복 Happiness and하하호호 the Sound of Laughter HaHaHoHo, the works overflow with light and infectious enthusiasm.
New Works by Riaz Mehmood August 24 to September 30 Riaz Mehmood
Edmonton based artist Riaz Mehmood strives to capture the lived complexity of his homeland Khyber Paskhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Raised in Pakistan, he immigrated to Canada in 2000 and decided pursued a career as an artist. Working in printmaking, video, computer programming and installation, he introduces viewers to the Pashtun people: their history, culture and traditions.

Perpetual Motion June 27 to September 10
Early Travel and Transport in Central Alberta Movement was essential for survival. Searching for resources, hunting, and trading were daily activities for First Nations, the Métis, and new European arrivals. Journeys of hundreds of miles were made using many modes of transport. Follow along with the people that criss-crossed the region, travelling to explore, understand, and thrive on this land.
